Amazon.com revisited, products priced under $10.

without comments

Low priced products make money fall out of pockets like there is a hole in them. It doesn’t take a lot of thought to spend $5 on something. In other respects too, in certain industries it is easy to make a decision about something. Like the Sprint instinct. It was $129. Or the new iPhone at $199. When the price is easy the purchase is even easier.

The Philosophy of The RSS Feed - A deeper look at New Media

without comments

Media used to be “what they wanted you to watch”. With RSS the user now has the power and access of someone who goes to a library or bookstore and sees the “LOUD!” exhibit, which the user can glance at and drill down deeper into if he wants to. It doesn’t stop there anymore. Its not just picking which billboard anymore. Now its deciphering which section and book you are interested in, on a continuous basis. I pick RSS feeds, and if I don’t like them they get dropped like a book that wasn’t that interesting. If I like what an RSS feed has to say I start to get more immersed, and get committed. RSS is the ultimate F YOU to the mainstream media.

Omaha Room Rental Wars

without comments

Some guy down the street is offering better rental options on craigslist, i’ll have to underbid him. He’s offiering $400 and no lease, no deposit. Thats crap. I’m going with $380 lease and deposit. I don’t see how someone can have neither of those, he must be desparate. I’ll keep dropping my price rather than those options, those cover your ass. Plus, how the hell can you beat 380 all utilities paid, thats freakin cheap. I see people charging 500 and that is crap, but 400 is pretty reasonable i think. not too low not too high. I look at it compared to a studio apt. a sudio apt with all utilities runs someone about 650-700. For loss of some privacies, its worth $300. If its too high it defeats the purpose of not getting a studio. It has to be a clearly better option, because of the “loss of privacy”. Personally, i could care less if I have that loss of privacy, I’ll walk around in boxers in front of anyone, it doesn’t matter to me. I’m so used to brothers and roommates, I haven’t totally acclimated to solo-ness yet.

The perfect storm, Batman - The Dark Knight

without comments

As I predicted last week, the Dark Knight did amazing. It got 9.7/10 on IMDB (Internet Movie Database).

It was the perfect storm because:

  • It was a sequel
  • It was a good movie
  • Heath Ledger’s death inspired people to see it

Adsense and Porn Sites

with 2 comments

Apparently you can’t use Google Adsense on porn sites. I find that interesting. There is definitely untapped pay per click advertising dollars there for normal, non porn advertising in the porn context. I don’t think some advertisers would care that you were advertising to Porn enthusiasts, and you could even give them a discount.
