Hiring & Managing a Virtual Assistant (VA)

Wordpress Plugins = Magical Goodness. Free Wordpress Shopping Cart Plugin

Wow. Wordpress continues to amaze me. For free, you get all these plugin and widget goodies. I haven’t used this plugin, because I’m not currently selling anything right now, but if I do, I now know where to go. Wordpress is revolutionizing the art of plug n play website management. Of course there are free website content managers out there, but for me, Wordpress is slick. Keep it up WP, and to all the developers who make the plugins!

Risk Vs. Reward – Taking the plunge, starting a small business or 8-5 grinding?

There are risks to both alternatives. Although it may seem like the best way to go to start a business over grinding it out as a wage slave, lets do a quick risk-reward analysis.

Wage slaving: There is definitely a risk here, so don’t get confused with this as the low-risk option right away. The risk factors at play here are:

Could a Virtual Assistant (VA) do website maintenence. Yes. Am I still not comfortable with letting go of the reins due to th possible loss of content. Yes. Could I back up that information. Yes. There is just something about that that I don’t want to let go. Anyone have any direct experience with the use of a VA for maintaining their website?

Omaha Room Rental Wars

Some guy down the street is offering better rental options on craigslist, i’ll have to underbid him. He’s offiering $400 and no lease, no deposit. Thats crap. I’m going with $380 lease and deposit. I don’t see how someone can have neither of those, he must be desparate. I’ll keep dropping my price rather than those options, those cover your ass. Plus, how the hell can you beat 380 all utilities paid, thats freakin cheap. I see people charging 500 and that is crap, but 400 is pretty reasonable i think. not too low not too high. I look at it compared to a studio apt. a sudio apt with all utilities runs someone about 650-700. For loss of some privacies, its worth $300. If its too high it defeats the purpose of not getting a studio. It has to be a clearly better option, because of the “loss of privacy”. Personally, i could care less if I have that loss of privacy, I’ll walk around in boxers in front of anyone, it doesn’t matter to me. I’m so used to brothers and roommates, I haven’t totally acclimated to solo-ness yet.
