Samsung Instinct Update is seen in the wild @ around 5:30PM CST Sept 24, 2008

Comments

As promised, this time, Sprint issued the Instinct update, which is now the 3rd version of the phone, supposed to be making the internet better, faster, and more user friendly.

Now, if we only had a list of what was being updated! Things I was looking for:

-Better Gmail functionality

-Opera lite, or not needing it

-Flash

-Pandora

***Update***

Things I see:

Pros:

-Faster and better functionality in the web browser and in the phone’s normal browsing between screens. Also the coolest thing I was looking forward to on this update – the ‘hide the left buttons option’ by pushing the button on the side of the phone, the ‘push to talk’ button, the side bar goes away!

-Smoother transitions when typing and between pages.

-Smoother Scrolling, not so jumpy.

Cons:

-Old bookmarks got deleted except those which I had linked on my favorites startup screen.(Note to those who haven’t updated yet!)

-Apparently no flash capabilities still

-No Pandora.

-Gmail issue still exists with the updating of read mail.

-When clicking on a text box in the browser it is harder to get it to jump to the keyboard screen (I’m willing to deal with this for the other benefits).

-Still no shrink to screen mode (to eliminate scrolling)

Any others?

See buzzaboutwireless.com forums for more.

A few other things I would like to see:

Instant Messaging and IM type functionality for texting (Live updates to a text conversation rather than having to read it then jump back)
